- "Debt" talks about the debt of the society with the elderly, and the debt of the main character that protects from the villa, be they private or banks ...
And the producer is also credit. It has been very difficult, because we have been running away from him, because the ball is the one who passes the Lucas liar, who is always there.I had the same plane in front of Merthyr with my friends: to finish the film, to be released ... because it was a very dangerous film. And 3 million more times - it's 78 places - than a normal film - and we've had five -.In the end, everything runs out of energy and in the end it's a ball you can't control.I often feel like I'm on a train that goes 300 without brakes but where you can't.
- Wititchitch Screenplay, Direction, Production, Protagonist. How does Daniel Gizmán get along with all the "Danieles Guzmanes" in the middle of such a complex adventure?
- It's not going well, really. The equation is always negative and, generally speaking, in my case the writer usually wins, but the producer loses. It's true that this gives me the freedom to write and make the films that I feel and want to make, and if someone else produces them, I have to sacrifice the way I tell the story.I would love to be able to continue directing what I write, but I prefer not to act in my films.
- Why did you do it in this case?
– Who is the Daniel Guzman of Spanish cinema?
- Well... no, I really don't know.Well, no one, I don't know... A story teller who makes everything in this story borderline shaky. He is a truth teller, life and stories are born from life and he hopes that the audience will think and invite him.Cinema has given me everything, it has given me meaning to my life, and this way I have everything in language, I don't understand why I can't accept you for a while, not just to practice.
-f I'm more accurate than someone who fills his mouth with the word "writer".
-If you say so, I respect it... and it is very close to the truth.I'm ashamed to hear this, but at least I try: I try to make movies or stories about people walking the streets, people trying to move forward, people with enthusiasm, hope and a sense of humor. You have to laugh at yourself and everything around you and I respect people a lot because I like films that respect me and that treat me intelligently.I believe that people are smart, I try to connect with reality and make films without gimmicks, conventions.
-Yo, you got off the same train as 'Nobody's alive here' to make your own movie... How much would you pay to make the movie you want?
- A lot of things, I don't know too much, but a lot and not only on a professional level but on a personal level. When you look back and see that you have done 3 films in 20 years, you know that you have left a lot behind.I'm lucky - and I prefer not to be sentimental because I'm true - I'm lucky because I have great friends, a great family and people around me who love me and push me to keep going, even if I often get lost along the way.Because they know that this is my life and it takes a lot of time for me to be with them, but hey, we love each other so even if I don't see it, they continue to support me.That was on a personal level ... on a professional level, of course I stopped working as an actor at a time when I was doing well, fame and money. That's when I decided to leave everything behind to tell the story of 'nothing'.I thought it would take me 1 or 2 years and it took me 10. It took time. I didn't know it would be difficult to tell a personal story. It took me seven years for my second film 'Kanalas' and four years for this film 'T'.In the end, you give up everything, but I felt that I had to do it and even though it was very difficult, I wanted to do it.No one forced me, I was free, I maintained a dignified freedom and when I had to tell a story, I didn't stop until I reached that goal.
-in 'In exchange for nothing' (2015) he moved closer to Aluche, his neighborhood, in 'Debt' (2025) What has changed in Madrid in just 10 years?
– This center is growing more and more due to gentrification and people have been moved from their homes to turn them into tourist apartments. The model of the big city is a model of a city that bets everything for tourism and tries to get the maximum profit from assets such as housing, for its exploitation. And we have reached a limit or a tension that can only be resolved by government action, because it is true that capitalism itself and social action will not exist, after all, if there is no capitalism itself and social action.are the most jungle and law appropriate, and the most appropriate generally relate to banking, real estate and mutual funds.
— The graffiti boy from Arush who eventually became a filmmaker, what's left of Typhon?
- Lot.The imagination remains, the desire to tell stories remains. Before I did it through graffiti and now I do it through movies;I have done it for many years as an actor through my writers.Maybe that rebellion refused, which is the need of freedom; Also the importance of expressing themselves through stories and, the truth is that there is also a smile of not smiling when I smile when I see it and, especially, more, to give everything the value it wanted.I think I haven't changed in that regard: I'm still restless and I still have that Peter Pan with the storytelling engine.
The adventure of searching for an actor with a visionary
“We look for Charo like a needle in a haystack.”We saw more than 700 women.I started for months on the streets, in the markets, in the day centers, in the health centers, in the house;I look at them everywhere, after about six months of research I found them.Health and from there I created the story.I need to find in my crumbliness a state of vulnerability, attention to well-being, innocence, humanity and compassion;I mean, there are a lot of qualities that I have to pay attention to, because I need this character to convey that, and until I find everything, I don't stop at anything, I don't hold back at anything, I don't hold back at anything,” explains Daniel Guzmán.
“I went to the houses with the casting director, the locals saw me and said, 'Look, that boy where 'no one lives here.'He told them I was going to make a movie and I was looking for a 90-year-old man to star in it, and he fired them. After talking to them for 10-20 minutes, everyone wanted to take part because it is a great experience for a very elderly person who is at the end of life.Because it makes them feel useful."It helps them see that they weren't eliminated. Everyone was very excited, they played a lot in the tests, they had a great time. It kind of changes their routine, changes their lives, gives them meaning and hope, it's true."
