A multidisciplinary team at the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital has made important progress in the fight against hepatitis C.The prevalence of active infections decreased from 9.3% to 4.3% in patients receiving opioid substitution therapy between 2020 and 2022, among 258 people with a history of predominantly drug use, according to a study conducted between 2020 and 2022.
The project, published in the Spanish Journal of Digestive Diseases, is part of the goals of the World Health Organization to eradicate hepatitis C by 2030.
